My Navajo Life

I am a Navajo – American Indian tribal member in Arizona.

The road often traveled to go home.
The road often traveled to go home.

In Arizona, the Navajo Tribe is one of the largest tribes federally recognized tribes.  We are born into our communities, as I like to say. My footprints begin here. If you look at the road and see straight ahead, you will see a small hill it leads to. Atop that hill, is where my life began. As you travel down this dirt road, you will feel the rugged terrain and see the continuing hills and rocks all around you.  For many years, from infancy to nine years of age, I regularly traveled this road.  Then I moved to the city, where this road became a permanent picture in my head I often longed for.  In the year 2000, I moved home to my hometown and each and every time I drive up to this hill now, I am often reminded that there will always be a road home. Full of memories and permanent priceless moments.  This is my road home to this day.
